Kootenai Falls & the swinging bridge
Kootenai Falls is one of the largest natural
waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest. Churning waters and
cascading falls make it a favored spot for kayakers and a
prime location for the movie “The River Wild.” A must see
while visiting Kootenai River Country.
Ross Creek Cedars
The Ross Creek grove of Western
Redwood Cedars had laid their roots well before Columbus
set sail to the New World. A short, self-guided information
trail loops through the grove providing access to trees
with diameters of more than eight feet as well as views of
the Bull River Valley and Cabinet Mountains.
The Cabinet Mountain Wilderness
The roughly 100,000
acres of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness are crisscrossed
by a network of trails that provide access to soaring
snow-covered peaks, timbered valleys, and glacial lakes.
The trails can be accessed via Forest Service Roads, which
connect with either Highway 2 or Highway 56.
Yaak Falls
Just north of the junction of Highway 2
and Highway 508 outside of Troy, MT, Yaak Falls are
visitors first glimpse of the rugged Yaak landscape.
Breathtakingly beautiful, the falls are especially popular
in the spring and early summer when snowmelt runoff
dramatically increases their size.
Roosevelt Park
Troy's beautiful Roosevelt Park is
located alongside the Kootenai River. It is the perfect
place to picnic or walk, and is located conveniently close
to town. The park has picnic areas, public restrooms, ball
fields, children's playground, walking path, boat launch
and fishing pond. For more information and a map of
Roosevelt Park, visit the
City of Troy's website.
