4th of July 2008 Recap
Thank you for making our 2008 event a great success. Over 6,000 people were estimated to attend this year's 4th of July and we had good response to the kids' carnival and other attractions. Please look for a thank you list of our volunteers and contributors in the Kootenai Valley Record and Montanian Newspapers the week of July 28.Many of you may have read the coverage of the 4th of July in the Western News in the week following the event. As many editorials since have pointed out, we feel that the coverage was overly negative and unbalanced. Isolated incidents did occur and we are improving security measures for next year to reduce the possibility of any problems. However, the Western News neglected to cover the thousands of people who enjoyed--without incident--one of Lincoln County's only free family events. Thanks you, again, to those who sent editorials and emails in support of the 4th of July and the Troy Chamber of Commerce.
